Contents Page Analysis

The magazine uses images on the contents page. The images are shown to be constructive because it links to what they’re going to show inside the magazine.

The image in the contents page supports my initial findings. I know this because the target audience is mainly young people aged 11 to around 20 years old and the style of the fonts are big and bold and on the contents page its exactly the same style but more images.

The font used for the word “Contents” is big and skinny. The fonts of the numbers are bold but small. The colours are bright and the writing on the inside is also clear. The font and colours support the style of the magazine because teenagers would be more interested in the colours and images in the magazines rather than the text. They would also be interested in the puffs which are in a yellow circle and a light blue oval shape. This all supports the style.

The information on different articles is located around the centre of the contents page and all the reviewed events such as concerts and movies are on the right side in a list. This has been organised so the audience can easily find what they’re looking for in the magazine. The sections have been separated into two halves. One half is the Q’s review and the other is articles inside the magazine. This tells us that the magazine is quite organised and there will be some reviews on movies, concerts that went on such as Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake and so on.

There are also promotions in the review section on albums by The Artic Monkeys, The Maniacs and HAIM.

The magazine logo is placed on the top left side of the page. The logo isn’t dominating the page as such but it’s making itself known that “Q” is the brand of the magazine.
The brand has no other franchise.
